Rusumo Power Company Limited (RPCL)

Rusumo Power Company Limited (RPCL) is responsible for developing, constructing, owning, and operating the 80MW Regional Rusumo Falls Hydroelectric Project located on the Kagera River at the Rusumo border between Rwanda and Tanzania. It is jointly owned by the governments of Burundi, Rwanda, and Tanzani. The project aims to enhance regional energy security and promote socio-economic development. RPCL is publicly financed, publicly owned, and privately managed, with significant involvement from development partners like the World Bank and the African Development Bank.
